This Privacy Policy explains how Galaxy’s Edge, LLC (“Galaxy’s Edge,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares personal information when you visit galaxysedge.us (the “Site”), buy books, merch, or a Galaxy’s Edge Insider subscription, join our email list, or otherwise interact with us.
We’re a small, independent publisher. We collect what we need to run the store, ship your orders, and keep in touch with readers who’ve asked to hear from us. We don’t sell your personal information for money.

1. Who we are
Galaxy’s Edge, LLC
PO Box 534
Puyallup, WA 98371
United States
Email: shipping@galaxysedge.us
We are the business responsible for (the “controller” of) the personal information described in this policy.
2. What we collect
Over the past 12 months, we have collected the following categories of personal information. We don’t collect more than we need for the purposes described in Section 4.
| Category | Examples | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Identifiers | Name, email address, account username, IP address, order number, and online identifiers set by cookies and similar technologies | You; your browser or device |
| Contact and shipping information | Billing and shipping address, email address, phone number | You |
| Payment and financial information | Payment card or other payment method details | You, entered directly with our payment processors (see Section 5). We never see or store your full card number. We receive only limited details such as card type, the last four digits, and the expiration date. |
| Commercial and purchase information | Products you’ve bought or viewed, orders, Insider subscription and membership status, renewal and shipment history, returns and replacement requests | You; our store records |
| Account information | Username and password for your account (passwords are stored in encrypted, hashed form) | You |
| Internet and device activity | Pages viewed, links clicked, how you arrived at the Site (for example, the referring site or campaign), browser and device type, and approximate location derived from your IP address | Your browser or device, through cookies, pixels, and similar technologies |
| Communications and content | Emails and messages you send us, product reviews, form submissions, and whether you open or click our emails | You; our email system |
| General location | The city and state in your shipping address, and approximate location from your IP address | You; your browser or device |
Sensitive information. Some state laws treat account log-in credentials and payment card details as “sensitive” personal information. We use them only to give you access to your account and to process your payments, and never to infer anything about you. We don’t collect other kinds of sensitive information, such as precise geolocation, government ID numbers, health information, or biometric data.
3. How we collect it
- Directly from you, when you place an order, create an account, subscribe to the Insider program, sign up for our emails using one of our forms, write a review, or contact us.
- Automatically, through cookies, pixels, and similar technologies when you browse the Site. See our Cookie Policy and Opt-Out Preferences page for the full list.
- From service providers, such as our payment processors (for example, to confirm that a payment went through or to flag possible fraud) and shipping carriers (for example, tracking and delivery status).
4. How we use it
We use personal information to:
- Process and deliver your orders, including payments, shipping, tax calculation, order confirmations, and tracking updates.
- Run Galaxy’s Edge Insider subscriptions, including recurring billing, member access, and sending your physical Insider shipments.
- Manage your account and give you access to your order history and membership benefits.
- Provide customer service, including handling returns, replacing damaged items, and answering your questions.
- Send you emails, including order and account messages, Insider updates, newsletters, and requests to review products you’ve bought (see Section 8).
- Display product reviews from verified buyers (see Section 9).
- Show recent-purchase notifications on the Site (see Section 10).
- Understand how the Site is used so we can improve it, using aggregate statistics.
- Measure and improve our advertising, including on Facebook and Instagram, unless you opt out (see Section 6).
- Protect the store, including preventing fraud, securing accounts, and blocking abusive activity.
- Meet legal obligations, such as keeping tax and accounting records, and enforce our terms.
We will not use your personal information for purposes that are materially different from these without telling you and, where the law requires, getting your consent.
5. Who we share it with
We share personal information with service providers that help us run the store. They may use it only to provide their services to us.
| Who | What they do | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe | Processes card payments and payment options offered through Stripe at checkout, including Link, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Klarna, and Affirm | Name, email, billing address, payment details, order amount, device and IP information for fraud prevention. If you choose Klarna or Affirm, that provider also receives the information it needs to offer you financing, under its own privacy policy. |
| PayPal | Processes renewal payments for some older subscriptions | Name, email, address, payment and order details |
| ShipStation | Creates our shipping labels and tracks shipments | Name, shipping address, phone, email, order contents |
| Shipping carriers (such as USPS) and, for international orders, customs authorities | Deliver your package and clear it through customs | Name, shipping address, phone, and email for delivery notices, plus the contents and value of the package for customs forms |
| Printful | Prints and ships our print-on-demand merch | Name, shipping address, phone, email, order contents |
| TaxJar | Calculates sales tax | Shipping address and order details |
| FluentCRM and our email delivery provider | Manage our email list and deliver our emails | Name, email, subscription status, purchase history used to choose which emails you get, and email open and click activity |
| Automattic (Jetpack and WordPress.com stats, WooCommerce) | Site statistics and store analytics | IP address, pages viewed, device and browser information, and store activity such as product views and cart events |
| Meta Platforms (Facebook and Instagram) | Advertising measurement and audiences, through the Meta Pixel and Facebook for WooCommerce | See Section 6 |
| Google Fonts | Delivers the typefaces used on the Site | Your IP address and browser information, when your browser loads the fonts |
| Reformed Media | Hosts, maintains, secures, and backs up the Site | All of the information stored on the Site |
The Site uses several plugins (including Fluent Forms, LiteSpeed Cache, Complianz, WPfomify, a security plugin, and a fraud-prevention plugin) that run on our own servers. They don’t send your information to their developers.
We may also disclose personal information:
- When the law requires it, for example in response to a valid subpoena or court order.
- To protect rights and safety, including to investigate fraud or to protect our customers, our business, or others.
- In a business transfer, if Galaxy’s Edge, LLC or its assets are sold, merged, or reorganized. In that case, this policy would continue to apply to your information.
- With your direction or consent.
6. “Selling” or “sharing” personal information and targeted advertising
We do not sell personal information for money.
We use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, through the Facebook for WooCommerce plugin, to measure how well our ads work and to show our ads to people who might be interested in Galaxy’s Edge, including people who have visited the Site. The Pixel collects information such as your IP address, browser and device details, the pages you visit, and actions like adding a product to your cart or completing a purchase. Meta receives this information through its pixel and, where enabled, through server-side tools that send events such as purchases from our server to Meta. These events may include hashed (scrambled) contact details, such as your email address, so that Meta can match the event to an account.
Under California law and several other state laws, this counts as “sharing” personal information for “cross-context behavioral advertising,” or as “targeted advertising.” Some state laws may also treat it as a “sale.” Over the past 12 months, we have shared the following categories with Meta for advertising: identifiers (such as IP address and cookie IDs), internet and device activity, commercial information (such as products viewed and purchased), and general location derived from IP address.
How to opt out:
- Use our opt-out page. Visit Cookie Policy and Opt-Out Preferences (also linked as “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” on the Site) to turn off advertising cookies or to send us an opt-out request.
- Turn on Global Privacy Control (GPC). We honor the GPC signal and “Do Not Track” browser settings as a request to opt out of selling, sharing, and targeted advertising in that browser. With either one turned on, we won’t load the Meta Pixel for you.
- Email us at shipping@galaxysedge.us.
Opting out through cookies or GPC works for the browser and device you’re using. If you clear your cookies or switch browsers, you may need to opt out again. If you send us an opt-out request by email or through our opt-out page, we’ll also apply it to any server-side events we can tie to you, for example by your email address.
7. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to:
- keep the store working, for example your cart, your log-in, checkout, and security
- remember your cookie choices
- record how you found the Site, using WooCommerce order attribution cookies (named “sbjs_…”)
- produce statistics (Jetpack and WordPress.com)
- run the recent-purchase notifications and wishlists
- measure and target advertising (Meta Pixel)
When you first visit, a cookie banner lets you change your preferences. For the full, up-to-date list of cookies, what each one does, and how to change your choices, see our Cookie Policy and Opt-Out Preferences page. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the store, such as the cart and checkout, may not work without the essential ones.
8. Emails and how to unsubscribe
- Order and account emails. We send emails about your orders, shipping, subscription renewals, and account. Because these are needed to provide what you’ve bought, you can’t unsubscribe from them while you have an active order or subscription.
- Newsletters and Insider emails. If you join our email list, for example through one of our signup forms, we’ll send you news, new releases, and offers. We may ask you to confirm your email address before we add you.
- Review requests. We may email verified buyers after delivery to ask for a review of what they bought. You can unsubscribe from these emails at any time.
Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe any time. You can also email shipping@galaxysedge.us to be removed. Our emails are sent through FluentCRM and our email delivery provider. Our email system records whether you open emails and click links, which helps us send fewer emails people don’t want.
9. Product reviews
Only customers who have bought a product and are logged in can review it. Reviews are shown publicly with the name you gave in your account or review form and a “verified owner” label. We don’t show your email address. Reviews and our email tools may display a profile picture from Gravatar (a service run by Automattic). To look up the picture, a scrambled (hashed) version of your email address is sent to Gravatar. If you don’t have a Gravatar account, a default image is shown. You can ask us to edit or remove your review at any time.
10. Recent-purchase notifications
The Site may show short pop-ups about recent purchases, for example: “A Savage Marine in Las Vegas, NV purchased…” We never show your name. Each notification uses a randomly chosen Galaxy’s Edge nickname, along with the city and state from the order and the product purchased. If you’d prefer that your purchase not appear, email shipping@galaxysedge.us and we’ll exclude it.
11. How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, including to meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements.
- Order, payment, and tax records: 7 years after the order, to meet tax and accounting requirements
- Customer accounts: until you ask us to delete the account. Order records tied to the account are kept for the period above.
- Insider subscription and membership records: for as long as your subscription is active, and then for 7 years after it ends
- Email list records: until you unsubscribe. After that, we keep your email address on a suppression list so we don’t email you again.
- Analytics and advertising cookies: for the lifespans listed on our Cookie Policy and Opt-Out Preferences page
- Messages to us: up to 3 years
When we no longer need personal information, we delete it or de-identify it.
12. How we protect it
The whole Site uses encrypted HTTPS connections. Payments are handled by Stripe and PayPal, which are certified for card-payment security, so your full card number never reaches our servers. We use security software, keep access limited to the people who need it, and keep our software up to date. No system is perfectly secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security. If a data breach affects you, we’ll notify you as the law requires.
13. Your privacy rights
Depending on your state, you may have the right to:
- Know and access the personal information we have about you, and the categories of sources, purposes, and third parties involved
- Delete personal information we collected from you
- Correct inaccurate personal information
- Get a copy of your personal information in a portable format
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising (see Section 6)
- Opt out of profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects. We don’t do this kind of profiling.
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information. We use it only as needed to provide our services, as described in Section 2.
- Get a list of the specific third parties that received your personal information, where your state’s law gives you this right
- Appeal if we decline your request
- Not be discriminated against for using these rights. We won’t deny you goods, charge you a different price, or give you lower-quality service because you made a privacy request.
California residents may also ask, once a year, for information about any disclosures of personal information to third parties for those third parties’ own direct marketing. We don’t make disclosures of that kind.
We give these rights to all of our US customers, whether or not their state has a privacy law, unless the law prevents us.
How to make a request
- Email: shipping@galaxysedge.us, with “Privacy Request” in the subject line
- Mail: Galaxy’s Edge, LLC, Attn: Privacy, PO Box 534, Puyallup, WA 98371
- Opt-out of selling, sharing, and targeted ads: you can also use the Cookie Policy and Opt-Out Preferences page or turn on Global Privacy Control
Please tell us which right you want to use and which state you live in. If you have an account, you can also update your name, addresses, and email yourself under My Account.
Verification. To protect your information, we’ll confirm your identity before we act on a request to access, delete, or correct it. Usually we’ll do this by matching details you give us, such as your email address, a recent order number, or your shipping address, against our records, and we may email you to confirm the request. You don’t need to verify your identity to opt out of selling, sharing, or targeted advertising.
Authorized agents. You may have someone else make a request for you. We’ll ask for proof that you authorized them, such as signed written permission or a power of attorney, and we may still need to verify your identity directly.
Timing. We’ll confirm that we received your request within 10 business days and respond within 45 days. If we need more time, we’ll tell you why, and we may take up to 45 more days where the law allows. We don’t charge for requests unless they are clearly unfounded or excessive.
Some information we must keep. For example, we may need to keep order and tax records even after a deletion request. If so, we’ll tell you what we kept and why.
Appeals. If we deny your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision or by emailing shipping@galaxysedge.us with “Privacy Appeal” in the subject line. We’ll respond within the time your state’s law allows, usually 45 or 60 days. If you disagree with the result, you can contact your state attorney general.
California Notice of Financial Incentive
From time to time, we offer free items, such as a free Tin Man eBook or paperback, to readers who join our email list. Under California law, an offer like this can count as a “financial incentive” because you give us personal information to receive it.
- What you give us: your name and email address. If you choose a physical copy, we also ask for your shipping address, and for any order, the information described in Section 2.
- What you get: the free item described with the offer. Any shipping charge for a physical copy is listed with the offer.
- How to opt in: sign up through the offer’s signup form or order page. Joining is always optional, and you can buy from us without joining.
- How to withdraw: unsubscribe at any time using the link in any of our marketing emails, or email shipping@galaxysedge.us. You keep anything you’ve already received.
- Why we think it’s fair: we don’t put a precise dollar value on any one reader’s information. Our good-faith estimate is that the value of your email address to us is roughly the cost of providing the free item, based on what it costs us to produce and deliver it and the sales we expect from staying in touch with readers who sign up.
14. Children’s privacy
The Site isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, email shipping@galaxysedge.us and we’ll delete it. We don’t knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 18, or use it for targeted advertising.
15. Customers and visitors outside the United States
We’re based in the United States, and the Site and our service providers operate from the US. We also ship internationally. If you visit the Site or place an order from outside the US, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the US, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country.
For international orders, your name, shipping address, phone number, email address, and order details also go to the shipping carriers that handle your package, including carriers in the destination country. The contents and value of your package go to customs authorities in your country, which may charge duties or taxes and may have their own rules about how they use that information.
We handle all personal information as described in this policy, wherever you live. If you live outside the US and have a question or want to make a request about your information, email shipping@galaxysedge.us and we’ll do our best to help.
16. Links to other sites
The Site links to other sites, such as our social media pages, retailers like Amazon, and other Galaxy’s Edge sites. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and we’re not responsible for them. Please read their policies.
17. Changes to this policy
We’ll update this policy when our practices or the law change. When we do, we’ll post the new version here and change the “Last updated” date. If we make a significant change, we’ll tell you more directly, for example with a notice on the Site or by email.
